Adrian Dance Chief Financial Officer

Adrian T. Dance, Jr., formerly the Chief of Revenue Systems and Analysis within Financial Management, was selected as the Director of Custodial Accounting on May 29, 2017. In this position, Adrian has service-wide responsibility of custodial accounting for $3.6 trillion in federal revenues and $400 billion in federal refunds, production of custodial financial statements and financial reports, managing the custodial financial system (RRACS) and its requirements (legislative, sustaining operations, and enhancements), and establishing/maintaining custodial accounting policies. Adrian started his IRS career in October of 2007, as a GS-13 Financial Analyst within CFO, Internal Financial Management, Integrated Financial Systems. Prior to IRS, Adrian worked as a Senior Consultant for IBM in the Financial Management Sector for various federal agencies, including USDA Forest Service and the U.S. Department of the Navy. Before joining IBM, he was a consultant with TSA and DLA for Grant Thornton. Adrian’s first job after graduating from college was working as an entry level Accountant for the Department of Health and Human Services with the District of Columbia Government. Adrian holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting from Norfolk State University. He also graduated with honors while obtaining his Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Sports Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition, he is an honored member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Adrian is a proud native of Petersburg, VA, and currently resides in Maryland with his wife, Ty, and their three children, Adrian III, Taylor, and Logan.
